*Today with Julian – April 25th
My curate was sent for to be at my ending, and by the time he came
I had cast my eyes upwards and could not speak.
He placed the cross before my face and said:
“I have brought thee the image of thy Maker and Savior.
Look thereupon and comfort thyself with it.”
It seemed to me that I was all right,
for my eyes were set upwards toward heaven
(where I trusted to come, by the mercy of God)
but nevertheless I consented to fix my eyes
on the face of the crucifix
if I could, and so I did.
(Julian, Chapter III)
“Thus,” Julian tells us, “I chose Jesus as my Heaven.” If you would strengthen and empower your faith, use this centering prayer often in the week ahead: “I choose Jesus as my Heaven.”
